Core Group Meet To Finalise Activities For 2011

The overwhelming success of PackPlus South 2011, plans for upcoming India Package Meet and Conference topics for forthcoming exhibitions- all this and more was discussed at the fourth core group meeting this year and the second in New Delhi. 

The meeting held on August 5, 2011 at India Habitat Centre was attended by Surendra Kumar, Italian Tech Services; Harjeet Singh Saggu, Bosch Ltd.; Nagesh Sagar, Maxicare Overseas Associates Pvt. Recounting the success of the just concluded PackPlus South 2011 at Hyderabad, which was marked by a vastly increased number of exhibitors and a record number of visitors, Anil Arora put forward a proposal for holding the India Package Meet in September. The event would be held across three major industrial towns - Vapi, Ahmedabad and Rajkot and will be a curtain raiser for the exhibitions planned during the rest of the year. The members of the core group were unanimous in their approval of the plan and the choice of the towns for the meet.

In a departure from previous practice, Arora explained that this year PackPlus have been split into two events - India Converting Show and India Packaging Show to be held at two different venues. The India Converting Show 2011 would be held at Mumbai between 23-26 November and India Packaging Show is scheduled from 7-10 December at New Delhi. Complementing the Shows at both the venues will be the annually held Conferences.

At the India Converting Show, PPCL will come together with pmIndia to organize a Package Printing Conference, focused on the future trends in packaging. The Seminar facilitated by Kiran Prayagi, Head- pmIndia & Partner- Graphic Arts & Technology Education (GATE) will feature interactive sessions between the customers and the printers, airing their expectations from each other.

Presentations during the Conference will cover topics like functional, digital, flexo & gravure printing in packaging, creativity of design, restrictions in flexo & gravure, automation, control & quality, security & brand protection. The future trends in packaging will also include topics like coating, finishing & converting, energy saving, substrates and inks, safety, environment and sustainability, migration and health problems.

At the India Packaging Show, New Delhi, the annually held Conference will be spread over three consecutive days. The first day will focus on trends in packaging, including topics like anti-counterfeit, plastics waste management, global trends in sustainable packaging and compliance. On the second day the benefits of automation in packaging & food handling will be explored with the Automation Industry Association (AIA) acting as the knowledge partner. The presentations at the Seminar will include topics like helping hand of industrial automation, implementing speed & flexibility in modern packaging environment, line integration & interoperability, solutions for meeting Challenges in pre & post packaging inspection and quality assurance.

On the last day, All India Food Processors’ Association (AIFPA) will join hands with PPCL to organize a Conference on food processing technology. The Seminar will focus on future trends in food packaging & processing, complete solutions for horizontal flow wrap packaging systems and primary & secondary packaging handling systems.

Deepak Manchanda, a packaging design consultant will coordinate the Conference and will be involved in the structuring and planning of the topics for Conference suggested at the core group meeting.
