Security Is The Creed Of This Petrel
New security inks launched in India

Counterfeiter world over thrive on finding ways and means in which they can cheat an apparently foolproof system. India in particular has been a victim of counterfeiting of significant scale. Across India alerts are issued to keep checking the veracity of the currency one gets, even from the banks and other financial institutions. Not only currency but sensitive issues like passport forgery and cheating in any examination cause major damage to the society at large. This is where an entity like Petrel comes about, as a security enhancer.

Petrel, one of the leaders in supply of security products for the printing industry, in consultation with its Indian partner, Creed Engineers, has launched new range of security inks that meet the needs of Indian Market. The new range includes Bi-Flourescent inks, Thermo-chromic inks, coin revealable inks, conductive inks and security fibers. Each type of ink has its peculiar features tailor-made to meet the specific security requirements.

The bi-florescent inks are invisible to naked eye and will show two different colours of fluorescence, depending on the wavelength of the UV light (most common are 365nm and 254nm). In a continuous process of product development, Petrel has also developed bicoloured thermochromic inks. These inks are visible in one colour ( for example purple) and when you rub your finger on the printed surface because of the increase the temperature, another colour - for example pink will appear. Along with those bi-coloured thermochromic inks, various combination of colours are available.
Coin revealable inks, also known as metal revealable inks, are often used for direct marketing as replacement for scratching off inks. After printing and perfect drying by hot air, the ink is totally invisible. In order to reveal the printing , one must use a copper or brass coin and gently rub the invisible printed ink , the printed message will appear in grey. Once revealed the effect is irreversible.

Along with security inks, Petrel also deals in invisible and bi-florescent fibers, where the colour of the fiber differ according to wavelength of UV Lamp. Embedded in the paper itself, these range of security fibers ensure that the genuineness of the product can be identified at the paper manufacturing level itself and hence makes it impossible to the small counterfeiter to create features of that level. A number of paper mills in India are equipped and have tested and accepted the Petrel Fibers and able to offer security papers for applications in mark sheets, university degrees, book covers etc to secure them against counterfeiting.
