Fidia Macchine Grafiche, Italy, a name synonymous with high quality printing, is now available in India through Packolabel. “We took the distributorship of Fidia Macchine Grafiche in 2006 and have successfully completed two large installations for the full set of machines with leading Indian printers - EIH Press, Manesar and Manipal Power Press, Manipal while three more installations are in the pipeline,” says Neelkant Bakshi, Managing Director, Packolabel Systems.

To get that perfect finish, a combination of two or more Fidia equipments is required. The basic feeder equipment include Combi feeder and Mohandas continuous top loading friction feeder. For gluing, Unica is fitted after the Combi on tracks and is interchangeable with the Estro. Unica has a glue gun and a buckle plate folding head, while the Estro unit is designed for different capacity pocket folders. Besides, the Vetta unit is used for either external glue flaps folding or spine folding of pocket wallets.

The Combi paired with the Estro enables the finishing of complicated items such as folders with pockets of different capacities. This pair is ideal for a wide range of folding and gluing applications like presentation folders, special envelopes, CD/DVD wallets with pockets, photograph frames, book covers with flaps, flexible book covers, office files, tent cards, etc. The combination of Combi, Unica and Vetta is also used for applications where cross fold is required, such as presentation folders, photograph frames, CD/DVD wallets, etc.

“These machines are apt for commercial jobs like putting tapes on the back of posters. An example of the popularity of these machines is that a company in UK is offering print finishing facilities in 17 locations, using Fidia equipments only,” Bakshi informed. “Further, these machines can generate fast revenue because they match the speed of the printing machine (up to 40,000 per hour) and work on the same format (28” x 40” size). Thus, the printers can finish their jobs faster and dispatch the same quicker, thereby getting considerable time to take up more jobs.

In another development the company has formed a joint venture with Nova Logistics, China for the manufacturing of racking, pellet racking and storage systems in India.
