‘Improving Efficiencies with Technology and Innovation’
First Core Group meeting sets the tone for the
PackAge conference and more
The
first Core Group meeting giving shape to India’s ‘Largest
Packaging Event’ took place on 22nd February, 2008 at
India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The meeting was attended
by various leading companies and trade associations
of the industry. Future Formats, Reifenhauser India,
S N S Containers, Alpha Laserteck, Kurz India, Kudamm
Corporation, Moser Baer India, International Print O
Pack, Popli Graphics, Weldon Celloplast, E I Dupont
India, Schmersal, Food & Pharma Specialities and Creed
Engineers were all represented at the meeting.
One of the biggest breakthroughs of the meeting was
agreeing on a theme and tentative structure for the
PackAge Conference– 2008. With ‘Improving Efficiencies
with Technology and Innovation’ as its theme it was
decided that the two– day conference would be segmented
in a way that each session deals with Package (with
special focus on Food, Pharma and Retail), Converting
and Corrugation Industry independently. “The conference
is clearly divided so that each session is focused and
provides maximum utility to delegates of a particular
industry,”said D Deb, Consultant to the Industry and
Advisor for the PackAge Conference.
The core group has traditionally been the mainstay of
the detailed planning that precedes the promotional
campaign and the conference of each of the event organised
by the company. The enthusiasm with which the members
contribute to the brainstorming sessions has resulted
in the events being perceived as one that truly reflect
the latest industry trends. “The ‘Total Packaging Event
2008’ brings together eight established niche exhibitions
giving value to visitors analysing the entire supply
chain across all verticals of Packaging,” said Anil
Arora, President, Print Packaging.Com(P)Ltd.
The meeting further deliberated on various issues encompassing
the planning and execution of the main exhibition, its
accompanying conference, AIMCAL summer school and other
concurrent events. The group discussed number of points
needed to be included in the summer school from the
point of view of the Indian Convertor. These incorporated
reducing impact of gauge variation in input poly films,
suggested automation for overall improvement of efficiency,
techniques and methods of cost reduction etc.
It was agreed that members’ inputs be collated over
the next one month and in time a structured programme
for final inputs from the members be circulated.
“An event of this magnitude demands continuous and meticulous
planning. Meetings of this kind facilitate all industry
players to come on one platform, address key issues
of concern for the business and plan the event for themselves
making it an event for, by and of the industry,” said
Harish Madan, Director, SNS Containers.
