The
Largest Packaging Event Is Here!
The
coming together of the four niche events organised by
Print-Packaging.com have caught the imagination of the
industry. With over 150 exhibitors signed up and several
others expected to finalise in the next few days, the
largest packaging event is here.
`Its not really speaking of much,` admits Anil Arora,
the President of Print-Packaging.com. `As Plast India
is the second largest plastic show in the world, there
is no reason that our country should not have the second
largest packaging event. The fragmentation caused by
several exhibitions happening around the year has ensured
that the largest show barely touches 3000 sq m. net
area till now,` adds Arora, who believes that an event
of five times that area is required to project the country's
potential in this industry.
Spread over 10,000 sq m, the event in August is expected
to be at least 4000 sq m net and with over 200 exhibitors
it will be far ahead of the previous packaging events.
`We hope that this will help us in projecting a show
that is heads and shoulders above other events,` says
Arora. He also hopes that the event should trigger some
consolidation in the industry and more support in the
future editions both from the major exhibitors and industry
associations.
This is the second edition of the India Packaging Show
that had made an impressive debut last year in the same
venue. The highlight of the previous year's show was
its ability to attract large number of packaging users
mainly from the pharmaceuticals, food and personal care
industries. The packaging users comprised 80% of the
over 8,000 visitors that visited the event.
It is the third edition for The India Converting Show
and India Flexo Show that have been held concurrently
every other year since their debut in 2003. The two
shows primarily target the converters and package printers
as visitors. The leading flexible packaging converters
and carton manufacturers from India and the neighbouring
countries visit the show in large numbers.
The India Corrugated show will be in its third edition
at the August event. Held every year since its debut
at Chennai in 2005, the event has managed to attract
the corrugated box manufacturers in very large numbers.
The coming together of the four events will ensure that
every one involved in the packaging industry- the suppliers,
the package printer and converter as well as the package
buyer can come on a single platform for a period of
four days,` says Arora.
The event is expected to host several running machines
including some for the first time in the country. Several
product launches are also on the anvil. Many exhibitors
have announced their plans for the event and the accompanying
stories feature some of the products and service that
will be on display at the event.
The US based Association of Industrial Metalisers, Coaters
and Laminators (AIMCAL) is organizing its popular summer
School and will be happening with the event. PackAge-
the 2 day international conference will also take place
with the exhibition.
All in all a profitable time is foretold for the exhibitors
and visitors.
