Ravi foods gives in to the sweet temptation.
Comapny to enter chocalate segment soon.
The Hyderabad based Ravi Foods, manufacturers of Dukes biscuits and confectionary are now planning an extensive four fold expansion into the chocolate industry.
The objective, as stated by MD, Ravider Agarwal in a newspaper is to go up from being third in the south in terms of market share to being third in the country in the span of three years.
The Rs1000 million group has a chain of six companies, but Dukes accounts for 50% of the revenue. According to the company MD the expansion and diversification plan requires an investment of around RS300-350 million.
As a result of the expansion the capacity of the Hyderabad plant will go up to 10,000tonnes from the current 2,500 tonnes. The company also plans set up a plant with a capacity of 2,000 tonnes in Uttaranchal. The company’s chocolate unit in Hyderabad will go on stream by January. The new unit will be capable of producing 5 tonnes of chocolate per day and wil cost Rs100 million.
