2 Ranbaxy drugs in Japan
The country’s largest drug maker Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd (RLL) has launched an antibiotic, Clarithromycin, and an anti fungal drug, Terbinafine, in Japan through its joint venture partner Nippon Chemiphar Ltd (NC), christened Nihon Pharmaceutical Industry Ltd (NPI).
The two drugs have a market size of $400 million and $300 million, respectively, in Japan. Ranbaxy entered the Japanese market in 2002 and introduced its first co-developed product (with NC) Vogseal 0.2mg and 0.3mg tablets for the treatment of diabetes, the company said.
