India Packaging Show
makes a successful debut
Exhibitors and visitors give thumbs up
to the inaugural event
Over 7430 visitors trudged through
the two halls covering more than 4000 sqm and
hosting a hundred exhibitors for the four days
beginning 1
September heralding the success of the debutante
India Packaging Show 2006. The exhibition was
inaugurated by Pradeep Sardana, Of PepsiCo India
Limited, who chaired the first session of the
accompanying conference
and also delivered the key note address.
"With the industrial activity picking pace
in the north, it was high time that we had a
packaging event here," said Subodh Gupta
of Triveni Platics (P) Limited. "This exhibition
will grow to be an important event in the Indian
Calendar," predicted Stuart Haggard of
E P Media of Singapore who had come visiting
especially to attend the show.
"While the exhibition is not very large,
it is extremely focused and the ambience is
world class," opined Arunaba Guha of Reliance
Industries Limited. Similar views were echoed
through the cross section of visitors that comprised
packaging users, converters and industry suppliers.
The exhibition was sponsored by PG Foils and
its MD Pankaj Shah was thrilled with the overwhelming
response. "We had a steady stream of visitors
throughout the four days and we have developed
some very useful contacts here."
The
center of the attraction at the show was the
stand of Packolabel that had live demos of the
Fidia Combi Unica, a versatile machine to make
all kinds of folded and glued products from
paper and board and Cyklop wrapping and strapping
system. "We have at least 4 serious buyers
vying for the Fidia machine," confided
Neelkant, who had brought the unsold machine
and hoped to sell to the highest bidder.
The big names of the packaging industry in the
world including Mico, Sealed Air, Tipco, Stora
Enso, JS Machine, Nordson and Imaje were exhibiting
with their latest products. Over a dozen companies
from China and Taiwan added to the variety and
range of products on display.
The organizers announced that the next edition
of the show to be held at Pragati Maidan from
21-24 August 2007 and to be co-located with
India Converting Show and India Flexo Show,
the successful bi-annual twin shows, now in
their third edition.
