Ranbaxy gets `mono` rights for hypertensive drug in US.
Company gains EMR for Monopril.
Ranbaxy Laboratories has landed itself in Uncle Sam’s generic pharma market. US- based pharma company Andrx Corporation has transferred its exclusive marketing rights (EMR), in the US market for the generic version of Bristol- Myers Squibb’s hypertensive drug, Monopril, to Ranbaxy. As part of the agreement Ranbaxy will share part of its revenue with Andrx.
A Ranbaxy spokesperson also quoted confirming in a newspaper article that the company has already received the tentative approval for Monopril’s generic version in September ’04 and plans to launch the product as soon as it receives the final US FDA approval. The company has also received approval for Monopril’s complimentary products- Foainopril tablets.
Industry analyst think that the EMR will help Ranbaxy gain significant market share in the high potential US hypertension drug market with the two complementary formulations.
