    Indian’s Unichem Labs to file four ANDAs in Us, expand overseas


Charting out overseas expansion plans, Mumbai-based Unichem Laboratories is about to file four abbreviated new drug applications (ANDAs) in US this fiscal and expand in Brazil, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Oman through product launches.

`I expect to file our first ANDA in the US during the third quarter followed by three more ANDAs in this fiscal,` Unichem Laboratories president Prakash Mody said in a newspaper interview.

On entering the markets in South Afica, Zimbabwe and Oman, Mody said: `There will be an increased investment and expenditure in these markets, which may not be proportional to the increase in revenues and profits in the short trerm.` He, however, did not specify the investment details.

The company will launch generic and high value branded generics in Brazil and South Africa during this fiscal.
The company would continue to focus on new drug delivery system formulations and work on non-infringing and cost effective process to develop generics drugs going off patent.
